POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Manufacturing Quality Engineering Technician supports the Manufacturing Quality Engineering team within the FDMX Quality function. This position involves a diverse range of responsibilities, including generating and managing scrap and yield reports, overseeing the handling of scrap materials from the production floor, and developing and maintaining robust quality assurance protocols. The technician will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing conversion of raw materials into partially finished or finished products, while ensuring adherence to quality standards. This role also includes inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, equipment, and products to support continuous improvement initiatives. The technician will be integral in ensuring compliance with both internal and external specifications and standards, updating quality standards and procedures as required, and contributing to ongoing quality enhancement and manufacturing efficiency efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Generate and interpret scrap and yield reports using SAP MES and ERP systems.
  • Analyze charts and dashboards, investigate on scrap issues, and prepare detailed summaries for communication to key stakeholders and leadership.
  • Perform autopsies of defective print heads or sub-assemblies as part of determining root causes.
  • Visual evaluation of product utilizing microscopes and defective criteria.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Supplier Quality Engineering teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in statistical analysis of manufacturing processes and compile data for any investigations.
  • Participate in Engineering and Material Review Boards (ERB/MRB) to review and manage nonconformities.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives related to product designs and/or manufacturing processes.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization through data analysis and testing.
  • Partner with engineers and other technicians to share observations, utilizing databases and spreadsheet for data management.
  • Aid in developing testing protocols and procedures, addressing emerging risk areas, or supporting new product development.
  • Conduct process audits and interface with Production personnel to ensure adherence to quality standards and protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Teams for effective communication.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Familiarity with test equipment and machinery.

 

DESIRED:

  • Experience using Olympus, Keyence or similar microscopes.
  • Knowledge of statistics, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), control plans, process verification/validation plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), process data analysis, 8D problem solving, and Six Sigma DMAIC methodology.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) practices.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other equivalent recognized international quality system standards.
  • Experience in statistical analysis using Minitab or any equivalent statistical software.
  • Experience in failure analysis.
  • Quality auditing experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

 

Six Sigma certification is very desirable, as are American Society of Quality certifications.
