This will be up to a 3-month paid internship, hourly rate range $25-$30/hour, commensurate with experience.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Industrial Engineering Intern will be assisting the Continuous Improvement team which may include any of the following activities: Measuring and analyzing work practices such as labor and machine times, identifying productivity improvement opportunities, layout validating and planning, designing training checklists and tests, updating procedural documents, auditing existing processes, participating in 5S activities, and analyzing capital equipment utilization.

 

  • KNOWLEDGE: Learns to use professional concepts. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
  • JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Builds stable working relationships internally.
  • SUPERVISION: Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.
  • EXPERIENCE: Typically requires no previous professional experience

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

    • Determines labor and machine time standards and makes recommendations for layout and process improvements
    • Develops labor and equipment resource plans based on production requirements
    • Using TOC and lean principles, identifies and leads the implementation of improved manufacturing techniques
    • Leads or coordinates ergonomic improvement efforts
    • Creates CAD layouts and work flow simulation models
    • Work with various groups and departments to help create improved layouts of work areas
    • Performs capacity analysis & identifies opportunities for improvement; may provide support to the return on investment calculations for new investments
    • Coordinate layout improvements

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Pursuit of bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Analysis, Business Systems/Admin, Instructional Design or related
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to gain cross functional support for projects, programs, and initiatives
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety protocols, operating and maintenance procedures
  • Intermediate-level skills in MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Project planning capability
  • Clear verbal communication (oral and written)

Desired

  • Statistics and/or Design of Experiments
  • Operations analysis
  • Python or equivalent
  • SQL, Tableau
  • Familiarity with theory of constraints
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks
  • Ability to interpret part drawings
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes
  • Ability to write accurate reports, instructional procedures, and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees

 

TECHINIQUES TO BE LEARNED IN THIS ROLE:

 

  • Photolithography process for MEMS wafer with topography
  • Lamination, exposure and develop process of photosensitive dry film
  • Use Filmetrics and KLA P16 to measure film thickness
  • Develop method to baseline photosensitive photoresist, dry film process
  • Develop manufacturing methodology to improve photoresist, dry film process
