POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Field Service Technician (Level depends on previous experience and skills) - This position will be based in the Midwestern part of the US

 

Often considered a “bag-carrying” repair specialist. Performs client-site servicing, repair and/or installation of company product(s). This job may include any aspect of product field support, including system hardware and software, medical or laboratory devices and equipment, and systems networking. Provides technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects of system equipment. Serves as customer contact on technical and service related problems. Diagnoses mechanical, hardware, electrical, software and systems failures using established procedures. Determines most cost effective repair/resolution to minimize customer downtime. Prepares reports for analysis of product failure trends and service ability issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide pre-sales samples for future business opportunities.
  • Create graphics appropriate for the best images for customer samples.
  • Helps design experiments and performs tests on varied electromechanical systems in a laboratory environment.
  • Performs basic set up of equipment in a laboratory environment.
  • Correlates and reports results and observations of testing and experiments to engineering using databases and spreadsheet computer programs.
  • Provide timely reports to engineering/management.
  • Works from written/verbal instructions, specifications, technical manuals and engineering sketches.
  • Uses a variety of imaging equipment and software associated with image manipulation. Basic repairs to test equipment and components, if applicable.
  • Performs testing of customized image systems.
  • Assembles, disassembles, modifies, reworks, refurbishes, repairs, reassembles and tests units as required using: blueprints, sketches, engineering specifications and standard testing equipment, applying considerable knowledge of mechanical, electrical and optical interrelations.
  • Compiles and records test results.
  • Usage of computer skills such as Excel, Word and database applications.
  • Works closely with engineers and senior technicians and makes recommendations for design improvements.
  • Implement tools to ensure installation success of complex systems.
  • Ability to travel domestic and abroad, alone or as a part of a team.
  • Provides system level super user training to customers.
  • Mentors junior field service technicians

REQUIRED:

  • High school degree or equivalent with 1-6+ years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of the use of Excel and Word computer programs.
  • Knowledge of basic wiring, mechanical workings and electronics.
  • Desire to maintain very high standards in attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to contribute both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to flex within the work schedule daily to meet the needs of the business development.
  • Ability to follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret formal and informal oral and written instructions, technical procedures and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, management and peers.
  • Ability to understand the various graphic formats required by STI printers in order to create graphics for samples.
  • Ability to create / manipulate graphic imaging in various formats and programs.
  • Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Paint Shop Pro.
  • Working knowledge of color, RIP and workflow sciences.
